Literatura: "A Thanksgiving Prayer", de William S. Burroughs

Hay muchos aspectos de la cultura estadounidense que no me gustan en absoluto. Sin embargo, siempre me ha fascinado (y he admirado) su capacidad para la autocrítica más feroz, algo que echo de menos en la vieja Europa, tan aburguesada, soberbia y pagada de sí misma. Hay que recordar que la contracultura nació en los Estados Unidos. Una de las mayores figuras de este movimiento fue el novelista y ensayista William S. Burroughs. Homosexual, consumidor de drogas y misógino, y al mismo tiempo uno de los escritores más influyentes en la literatura estadounidense actual, fue y es un personaje controvertido: genio para unos, sobrevalorado para otros, indeseable para muchos.

Hoy se celebra en Estados Unidos el Día de Acción de Gracias, y en BoingBoing lo han conmemorado recordando su «Thanksgiving Prayer»:
